'Abd al-Ghanī Hindī, General Coordinator of the Popular Movement for the Independence of al-Azhar, announced the movement's intention to prepare a black list of Imam‘s names who call themselves '‘ulama against the coup.' These imams demanded the creation of a Free Egyptian Army, assuring that their position is legitimate.   Hindī confirmed that this group of Imams consists of people who previously worked in the Ministry of Endowments and are members of the Muslim Brotherhood. He added that most of them are facing corruption charges dating to their time in the Ministry and said that the Popular Movement for the Independence of Al-Azhar will publish this list via the mass media (Khālid Mūsā, al-Shurūq, Aug. 12, p. 10).
