Many Copts are angry due to the choice of Bishop Bola of Tanta, as a representative of the Church in the Constituent Assembly. Several Coptic movements including Free Copts, Copts without Restrictions, and Copts without Chains called for a protest next Thursday in Saint Marcus’ Cathedral in ‘Abāssīyah.

Tharwāt Kamāl, representative of the movement, Copts for Egypt and of the Coptic Advisory Board, affirmed that they refuse Father Bola’s nomination and stated that he has helped the Salafists and the Muslim Brotherhood in writing the previous Constitution (Muʿtaz al-Khusūsī and Ayman Hānī, al-Masrīyūn, Aug. 12).
