‘Brotherhood without Violence’ says to the Muslim Brotherhood’s leaders that its supporters will not listen to or obey any commands after today
The leadership of Brotherhood without Violence appealed to the Egyptian leadership and to the current government for the release of the members of the organization who have not been accused of weapons possession or participating in the recent violence. The movement released a statement today rejecting in the strongest possible terms the indiscriminate arrest of young members of the organization. The movement also sent a message to the leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood, saying that they would not listen to any command to use violence, and that through seeking greater power for young leaders, they would work to reform the organization from within in order to restore internal confidence until the leadership reappears (Nūrhān Hassan, al-Yawm al-Sābi’, Aug. 19).
