The American organization, Open Doors, ranked Egypt as 25 among the world countries where Christians are persecuted, in 2013.  It stated that it already collected 430,000 dollars in order to rebuild the burned churches and houses destroyed by extremists.

The American Center for Law and Justice called for a signature campaign asking President Obama  to approve that the governmental protection of Copts should be a condition for Egypt to benefit from U.S. aid.
