Hundreds of Copts from Sāhil Salīm and al-Shāmīya villages participated in a sit-in yesterday before Sāhil Salīm police station to protest against the killing of 'Amān Lutfī Dimyān, member of the Supreme Committee of the Egyptian Democratic Party and his cousin Midhat Sadqī Dimyān.

They were shot to death by thugs in al-Shāmīya village. They also protest against the slowness of the security forces in arresting the perpetrator. The protesters demanded that safety returns and demanded their protection from the thugs.

Brother and cousin of the two deceased, Hilmī Lutfī Dimyān, said that the village has been suffering from bullying of and violence against Copts for a long time. He accused the security forces of having failed in protecting the Copts.
