In conjunction with the weekly lecture that Pope Tawadros gave, a number of Coptic activists organized a silent stand with a few banners requesting Bishop Jeremiah to return to the monastery. This is due to his statements in which he rejected the amendment of Article 3 to state “non-Muslims” rather than the current “Christians and Jews” despite that Bishop Bola had accepted the amendment. Among the banners they held were “Jeremiah return to your monastery”, and “Bishop Jeremiah= Shaykh Burhāmī; We want a human and not a religious state.” A number of attacks took place against the reporters by the security personnel of the Cathedral, in the presence of Bishop Amonious, the Secretary of the Pope (Peter Majdī, al-Tahrīr, Sept. 27, p. 9).
