Security forces in al-Minya successfully rescued a Coptic doctor who was kidnapped by a criminal gang. General Usāmah Mitwallī, the head of al-Minya security department, received a notification that unknown assailants had kidnapped Mājid William Iskandar, who works as a doctor. The defendants kept the victim in a plastic factory and demanded a large ransom, threatening to kill him if they failed to pay. The family notified the police, who revealed that the kidnappers are living in Naj’ Abū Karīm in Asyut and were capable of arresting them (Islām Fahīmī and Khadijah al-Adlī, al-Watan, Oct. 17, p. 1).
