Coptic intellectuals stated that a terrorist attack on churches is an attack on the state. Coptic intellectual, Sāmih Fawzī, stated that the terrorist attack against Copts is not due to their religion but rather because of their support in deposing Muhammad Morsi from power. He added that what has happened is a message addressed to Al-Azhar and the Church, as both of these institutions have taken part in announcing the “Road Map” for future plans after Morsi’s ouster with General ‘Abd al-Fattāh al-Sīsī (Sābir al-‘Arabī, al-Tahrīr, Oct. 22, p. 5). Read original text in Arabic.
