Bishop Bola of Tanta and the representative of the Coptic Orthodox Church in the Constituent Assembly (also called the 50-member committee) stated that the Coptic Orthodox Church will not disagree with Al-Azhar when it comes to its opinion on restricting the rights of practicing religious rites to the Abrahamic religions. However, he stated that he is not convinced of that restriction, due to its possible negative impact on international investors in the country, who may adhere to religions that are non-Abrahamic. “There must be a place for them to practice their religious rites,” he stated.
