The Coptic Orthodox Church has sent a memorandum to ‘Amr Mūsá, the head of the Constituent Assembly, requesting him to either cancel any interpretation of the “principles of Islamic sharī’ah,” including any in the preamble or to adhere to the interpretation presented by the SCC (Supreme Constitutional Court). The memo stated that the suggested text considers the Christians second class citizens, as they are considered infidels (kāfir) and that they must be treated accordingly in the law.   The memo pointed to the agreements that were made between the Azhār and the Salafī members without referring back to the Churches’ representatives.
