The closed session for the Constituent Assembly has witnessed tension amidst the threat of the Nūr and Church representatives to pull out due to the difference over inserting the phrase of “sharī’ah principles” in the Preamble of the Constitution. Bishop Bola the representative of the Orthodox Church has left the meeting angrily after less than one hour of starting it. This came in opposition to the persistence of adding the phrase of the “statements that have been agreed on” next to the interpretation of the Supreme Constitutional Court (SCC) in the Preamble. Amr Musa and Dr. Ahmad Ghunaym left and Dr. Sa’d al-Din al-Hilālī went after him and convinced him to return.
