Representative of the Coptic Evangelical Church in the Constituent Assembly, Rev. Safwāt al-Bayādī, stated that the article interpreting sharī’ah principles has been cancelled and will not be included in the new Constitution. He also added he will not accept any interpretation of sharī’ah principles in the Constitution except that to which the Supreme Constitutional Court has referred. He also assured that he refuses that Al-Azhar is the reference on issues pertaining to sharī’ah.
