Pope Tawadros II has congratulated the Egyptian people on drafting the new Constitution that has assured a “balance among the sons of the homeland”. He also saluted the members of the Constituent Assembly and called upon all the people to take part in the referendum. He stated this in a meeting with a delegation of the Association of European Parliamentarians headed by José Maria Benito.

Bishop Antonious ‘Azīz, the Bishop of Giza for Catholic Copts and the representative of the Catholic Church in the Constituent Assembly, stated that the new constitution cannot possibly be improved (Husnī Mīlād and Marco ‘Ādil, al-Akhbār, Dec. 8, p. 10). Read original text in Arabic.
