Archpriest Marqus ‘Azīz of the Hanging Church in Old Cairo who now serves at a church in the United States, threatened the Muslim Brotherhood: “Beware Muslim Brotherhood for you did not stop attacking me on Facebook and do not blame anyone except yourselves. We will not accept a fitnah tā'ifīyah if you stay.”

During a telephone interview with the evening programme on Dream TV, Archpriest ‘Azīz denied having ties with Black Block and claimed that this accusation is merely a settling of accounts. He also claimed that the Muslim Brotherhood posted on social media sites that Father Marqus was one of the producers of the film offending the Prophet.
