It is with great sadness that a number of venerate Muslim scholars see the retirement date of the Grand Shaykh of Dār al-Iftāꞌ comes closer. Having his term office extended in February 2011 for one more year, many of his students and colleagues had asked for a further extension taking into account the achievements the 61-year-old Muftī had realized within the ten years since he has been in office in 2003. It is notable that Coptic Orthodox Archpriest Būlus ‘Uwaydah was among the applicants pleading the extension of office term for the Grand Muftī (Ahmad al-Shūkī, al-Wafd, Feb. 4, p. 4). Read original text in Arabic.
