In preparation for the summit of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, to be held on Wednesday and Thursday next week (February 6-7, 2013), senior officials of member countries held meetings in Cairo on Saturday February 2, 2013. 

The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation has 46 members. A number of 26 presidents, including the President of Iran, Bahrain, Turkey and Tunisia, will be present at the summit in Cairo. Six topics are to be addressed during the summit. These include: Israeli settlements on the Palestinian territories; conflicts and disputes in the Islamic world; ways to combat defamation of religions, in particular Islamophobia; the humanitarian situation in the Islamic world; economic cooperation and trade between members countries and the development of scientific cooperation and technology between Islamic countries; and finally, the crisis in Syria and various international issues (Wardah al-Husaynī, Akhbār al-Yawm, Feb. 2). Read original text in Arabic.
