Several meetings were held for Coptic movements on the arrangements of the parliamentary elections and the selections of the Coptic parliamentary candidates which included discussions on the political situation and the representation of Copts in the coming parliament. Dr. Ihāb Ramzī former member of the People’s Council of Parliament stated that an agreement took place among the Coptic movements to nominate 30 Coptic figures to be distributed in different governorates. He said that it depends on the coming election law and a working interpretation of the positive discrimination stated in the 2014 Constitution. On the other hand, Dr. Sharīf Doss, the head of the Coptic Public Agency, stated that the Coptic consensus is for Copts to nominate themselves through civil political parties rejecting the individual nominations of Copts (‘Abd al-Wahāb Sha’bān, al-Wafd, Dec. 18, p. 3).
