General Usāmah Mitwally, the Head of Minya Security Department, rejected the accusations of Bishop Makarios, the Bishop of Minya against the police. He accused the police of pressuring Copts to complete the reconciliation between the villages of Hiwārtah and Nazlit ‘Ābid. This came after a sectarian battle took place in which four died and 18 people were injured on both sides. He asserted that the security did not force the Christians to accept the reconciliation. The reconciliation session was convened in the presence of the families of the victims and the villagers are feeling unhappy that their interests and work have been suspended due to the conflict, he added (Māhir ‘Abd al-Sabbūr, al-Shurūq, Dec. 19, p. 2).
