According to a brother of Pope Benedict XVI, the Pope has announced that he will not interfere in the selection of his successor. This follows the Pope’s sudden decision to resign from his position as head of the Catholic Church. According to a statement in which he announced his intention to resign the Pope explained that because of his advanced age he lacks the strength to carry out his duties.
