The Egyptian Foreign Minister received Vatican approval on the nomination of the former vice president Mahmūd Mikī as Egypt's ambassador to the Vatican.

The last Egyptian ambassador to the Vatican was Lamīyā' Mikhaymar. Since her term ended in September 2012 there has been no Egyptian Ambassador to the Vatican.
