The Islamic newspaper al-Misrīyūn published an article entitled “Pope Tawadros complain to Germany about Egypt”. 

After his three-day visit to Egypt, the German Volker Kauder, a CDU politician and Chairman of the CDU/CSU [Christian Democratic Union and Christian Secular Union] parliamentary group in the Bundestag, made a press statement, published in Katholische Nachrichten-Agentur (KNA) [German Catholic news agency] about his visit to Cairo. During his visit, he met with Vice President of the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP), ‘Isām al-‘Iryān, Prime Minister Hishām Qandīl, Coptic Orthodox Pope Tawadros II, and some opposition figures. Kauder stressed that he left Egypt “concerned” about the Christians’ situation in Egypt because of Pope Tawadros’ statements.
