Catholic Pope Francis I has arrived to Jordan in a visit that is the fourth of its kind in the last 50 years. This is the first visit for him to the Holy Land in which he intends to visit Bethlehem and Jerusalem. He has called for the respect of religious freedom in all areas of the Middle East that witnesses instability. He called for a peaceful solution in Syria and a just solution for the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.  These statements have made Israeli media critical. Maariv has stated that these statements are a continuation of old Vatican positions against Tel Aviv (Muhammad Attiah, al- Tahrīr, May 25, p. 1).
