ISIS (Islamic State in Iraq and Greater Syria) has introduced a testimony for new members in Iraq, in which they declare that they are ‘not an unbeliever’. In the pledge new recruits must repent for having committed bid‘ (innovation / heresy in religion), and each declaration is valid for three months. Security expert Hamdī Bukhayt said that these declarations had no value in reality and were not in line with logic or reason. ISIS has also begun a media campaign in support of the children of Gaza, and threatened Israel saying that rockets would continue to be fired at them (Mahmūd Sha‘bān Bayūmī, al-Watan, Jul. 25, p. 4).
