A leading figure in the Salafī organization has released information regarding the organization’s participation in the upcoming ‘Īd al-Fitr prayers. The source clarified that no Salafī sheikhs have received permits from the Ministry of Endowments to lead ‘Īd prayers, but will do so anyway, furthering the organization’s continued dismissal of the Ministry’s new regulatory system. A thorough map prepared by the organization revealed that Yāssir Burhānī, vice-president of the Salafī organization, will be leading prayers in ‘Amār Bin Yāssir Mosque in the al-Sā’ah district of Alexandria, amongst a multitude of other Salafī sheikhs leading prayers in over forty prayer sites nationwide. In addition, other sources within the organization have stated that president of the Salafī al-Nūr party, Yūnis Makhyūn, might give a sermon during the prayers held in Radwān Abu Hums Mosque in Beheira. Sources also confirmed that they expect clashes with the Muslim Brotherhood at prayer sites where prayers will be led by Salafī sheikhs, and so the organization has taken the necessary steps to secure its sheikhs, mosques, and women throughout the prayer ceremony, with Salafī youth securing the roads leading to prayer sites to prevent Muslim Brotherhood attacks.
