The relationship between Pope Tawadros and former president Mursī was described by the former president as a lukewarm relationship. The relationship deteriorated when the Cathedral witnessed for the first time of its history an attack against the papal headquarters. Pope Tawadros had visited Mursī when he became pope and reminded him that he is a president of all Egyptians. The Pope added that during Mursī’s rule the Copts faced great despair as the Muslim Brotherhood were incapable of ruling a state as great as Egypt.
