Some Coptic movements have given their support to Field Marshal Abd al- Fattāh al- Sīsī’s bid for presidency. Bahā’ Ramzī, head of the Dutch Coptic Association, stated that there are more than five million Copts abroad that support al-Sīsī. On the other hand, Mina Majdī, spokesman of the Maspero Youth Union, stated that al-Sīsī’s announcement to nominate himself for presidency is not a surprise. He added that until now the Union does not support any candidate and that they will present the “citizenship document” to the public once the registration for candidacy starts.
