On Sunday, a criminal court in Cairo is overseeing the trial of 494 people accused in the al-Fatah Mosque incident that occurred after the breakup of the Rābaʿa Square sit-in in 2013. Prosecutor General, Hishām Barakāt, decided to transfer the accused to a criminal court because the crimes that were committed were violent, including attacks on police officers and arsons.
