Attorneys Rā’id Yahyá Zuhdī and Tāmir Zuhdī had filed a lawsuit against the channel, calling to shut down the channel because it triggers fitnah.

The lawsuit was against each of: the Minister of Information, Minister of Investment, Chairman of General Authority for Investment (GAFI), head of Media Free Zone -- Egyptian Media Production City (EMPC), Board Chairman of the Egyptian Satellite Company (Nilesat), Egyptian Radio and Television Unions’s board of trustees (ERTU), and the legal representative of “al-Ummah” channel.

The lawsuit suggests that the channel is sedition-mongering, for instance, Shaykh Abū Islām had demanded from one of the media practitioners to wear niqāb, additionally, his program contains content that discredit Islam (Zahrah Abū ‘Alī, al-Sabāh, Mar. 23). Read original text in Arabic.
