A number of Coptic members of the Shūrá Council lashed out at the police forces and accused them of “inaction”, blaming them for the incidents erupted at the cathedral.

Mamdūh Ramzī, appointed member at the Shūrá Council, said that the police forces were complicit in allowing thugs and jailbirds to enter the top of the cathedral walls, adding that the Church has video records of the events.

Ihāb al-Kharrāt, head of the human right committee at the Shūrá Council, said that the Ministry of Interior was unable to protect the state’s institutions and is responsible for the incidents.
