Irina Bukofa, the general director of UNESCO, arrived to Cairo on Tuesday to participate in an international conference for the protection of heritage. She is launching UNESCO’s “United with Heritage” campaign inside the Museum of Islamic art. She chose Cairo as a place to launch her campaign from because of the threats Egypt is facing in protecting its cultural heritage from terrorist threats.
