The leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood revealed that President Muhammad Mursi (Mursī) expressed his anger to Pope Tawadros II about the statements he had made during the meeting with the US-ambassador Anne Patterson, in which he attacked the president. Ahmad Q āsim, a leader of the Muslim Brotherhood, said “Pope Tawadros’ statements were offensive to all Egyptians and offensive to the role of the national church, pointing out that these statements have a negative impact on the unity of the whole Egyptian class” (Ahmad Darwīsh and Anis Mustafá, al-Misrīyūn, Jun. 20, p. 5).
