In a meeting headed by the transition Minister for Justice Ibrāhīm al-Hunīdī, Egypt’s Committee for Legislative Reform agreed to the National Council for Human Rights’ proposal to have members of the council observe prisons in coordination with the Public Prosecutor. Meanwhile, the committee rejected a plan from the Police division of the Interior Ministry to transition some of its officers to civil servants. The committee said the plan required more study.
