Through this campaign, the Egyptian Secular Party demands the shutting down of all religious political parties, specifically Salafi al-Nūr Party. It bases this demand on article 74 of the current constitution which forbids the formation of political parties on a religious basis. This clause was used to shut down the Brotherhood’s Freedom and Justice party. The party accuses the state of collusion with Hizb al-Nūr, allowing it to remain in the political scene for its own interests.
