Fears that Islamic State kidnapped 46 Egyptians in Libya

There is still no trace of the 46 Egyptians who disappeared between July and September 2014. However the fact that most of them were Egyptian Copts makes a kidnapping by Islamic State a likely scenario and resembles the kidnapping and execution of Copts by Islamic State militants in Libya earlier that year. Pointing in another direction, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry’s spokesman indicated that they might have gone to Italy over the Mediterranean. With the situation in Libya deteriorating, the Egyptian Church called Copts to return to Egypt.
