The Azhar Fatwā Global Center explained the rules of zakāt (alms-giving) according to the Islamic sharī ͑a. It affirmed that zakāt is one of the five pillars of Islam according to the Holy Qurʾān, which commanded “Take, [O, Muḥammad], from their wealth a charity by which you purify them and cause them increase” (Q 9:103) and also “And those within whose wealth is a known right for the petitioner and the deprived.” (Q 70:24,25)
