Osāma al-Azharī, Minister of Awqāf (Religious Endowments) said that a distorted perception of religious discourse, which is based on fanaticism and disputes over doctrinal matters, could push some young people and adolescents to have wrong ideas about religions and gradually lead them to atheism.
Chairman of the General Secretariat for Fatwā Authorities Worldwide and Grand Muftī of Egypt, Dr. Shawqī ʿAllām, stated that President ʿAbd al-Fattāḥ al-Sīsī’s calls for renewing religious discourse were both correct and timely.

Shaykh ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz al-Shahāwī, the chief of the Shāfʿī Sufi Order in Egypt, said that Ṣūfīsm, like any other branch of science, is guided by ten principles. He added that Ṣūfīsm concerns self-exploration and the pursuit of virtuous ethics, as well as the renunciation of bad manners.
