In the first challenge to Pope Tawadros’ resolution restricting Egyptian Christians’ travel to Jerusalem for Easter celebrations, a number of pilgrims began the pilgrimage across Jordan heading toward Jerusalem. The Copts said that they did not regret making the decision to make the pilgrimage, saying that the Palestinians themselves welcomed them to Jerusalem and that their pilgrimage does not in any way mean that they recognize the legitimacy of the Israeli occupation.
