When the students of the Learning Center of the Center for Arab-West Understanding (CAWU) arrived in Alexandria on the morning of Friday, November 8, they could not but being positively taken aback by the fresh and colourful atmosphere characterizing Alexandria of Egypt.
As it was the first time for many of the students to visit the Mediterranean city of Alexandria, they immediately sensed the completely different atmosphere from the hectic Cairo environment where noise, traffic and sandy weather are dominant aspects of the city's everyday life.
The one-day trip of the Learning Center to Alexandria represented therefore a much-needed break to relax as well as to learn and connect with new people around Egypt.
The students were given the opportunity to see first-hand the variety of the Egypt in its geographical as well as cultural vastness.
Moreover, thanks to the collaboration from some energetic Alexandrians involved into the cultural and community life of the city, the trip turned out to be an enriching educational experience. Starting from the morning visit to the Jesuit Cultural Center until the final guided tour of historical places in down-town Alexandria, the group was informed about the rich variety of Egypt; historical, cultural and social.
