Sexual harassment is often linked to public holidays and celebrations that witness large gatherings, despite public awareness that it is socially and religiously unacceptable and prohibited. The Egyptian government has implemented several laws in order to combat this, the most prominent of which is a draft law, submitted by the Ministry of Justice and approved by the Cabinet, to keep data regarding victims of sexual harassment and assault confidential.
