The Coptic Orthodox Church, headed by Pope Tawāḍrūs II, will prepare for the beginning of the Christmas fast from 25 November, for a period of 43 days until the Coptic Christmas on 7 January, 2024. During this time, Copts abstain from meat and dairy products. This period of fasting is distinguished by a number of its own rituals, such as the nightlife during the month of Kīhik, when the weather is pleasant for late night praying.
