Research interns at the Center for Arab-West Understanding - Nadeem Ahmed Moonakal, a postgraduate researcher from the Department of Geopolitics and International Relations, Manipal University (India) and Youssef el-Banna [Yūsuf al-Banna], a Social Science and Law student at the University of Erfurt (Germany) sat down with HE Amr Moussa [ʿAmrū Mūsā] to discuss on a wide range of topics for their respective academic researches on June 23, 2018. The interview, that had been arranged by CIDT director Cornelis Hulsman, primarily aimed at understanding some of the contemporary imbroglios in the Middle Eastern politics with a special focus on some of the socio-political conditions in Egypt. The interview touched upon on the developments of Egypt’s domestic politics after the revolution, and the importance of the amended constitution of 2014. The area of focus also included the ideas of Pan-Arabism and nationalism in Egypt with contemporary relevance and its implications. During the session, HE Amr Moussa also elaborated on some of Egypt’s foreign policy imperatives vis-à-vis dynamics of regional politics of the Middle East that significantly impacts the geopolitical construct of the region.
