The American Embassy in Cairo Disassociates Itself from the Muslim Brotherhood and Declares its Mission of Strengthening Ties with Egypt.

 The new American Ambassador to Egypt, Robert S. Beecroft, denied media reports claiming he would meet members of the Muslim Brotherhood. He confirmed that the current goal is only to strengthen ties with Egypt and that he looks forward to finding ways to deepen American-Egyptian relations. Earlier, correspondent Ahmed Mūsá had reported on his TV program that the Ambassador planned to meet with members of the Muslim Brotherhood as well as prominent politicians such as presidential candidate Hamdīn Sabbāhī.
