Patriarch of the Coptic Orthodox Church, Pope Tawāḍrūs II, led prayers for five new nuns entering the convent of Mār Jirjis (Saint George) in Old Cairo. After touring the new developments of the convent and listening to the hymns offered by the nuns, the Pope addressed them and spoke of the beauty of monastic life, and how obedience is a key factor in observing such a lifestyle. Elsewhere, on Sunday 2 April, the 55^th of the Transfiguration of the Virgin Mary was celebrated in the eponymous church in the Cairo district of al-Zaytūn, where several workers at a garage nearby had sighted the Virgin Mary above the dome of the church in 1968.
