Today, Bishop Bakhūmīyūs, Metropolitan of Beheira [Biḥayrah] and Matrouh [Matrūḥ], head of the St. Makārīūs al-Sakandarī Monastery welcomed Pope Tawāḍrūs II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark, at the monastery in Beheira. There, in the village al-Kiffaḥ, he inaugurated two churches, St. Makārīyūs al-Sakandarī and the Three Macarius Saints. Makārīūs al-Sakandarī Monastery was unanimously recognized by the Holy Synod in June 2014.
