During a live broadcast on Facebook, the writer Yūsuf Zīdān discussed his reasons for writing the introduction to the book al-Muqadimmah fī al-Taṣawuf. The book on Ṣūfism is the first that he has authored, however, in his previous work, he has written on a wide variety of fields including Islamic heritage, medical science, as well as prose work. His career also comprises extensive experience working with the heritage manuscripts of Islamic scholars, scientists, and philosophers, in addition to indexes of the manuscripts at Alexandria University.
