There are great differences among Christian denominations concerning the Virgin Mary. For Catholics she is God’s mother, the intercessor for sins, mother of mercy and mother of the Christian church in the world. The Orthodox Church raises her above angels and saints. Protestants believe only in the intercession of Jesus Christ. They believe that neither the Virgin Mary nor the saints nor the martyrs can intercede for people, as all are the same before God.
