Montasser Al-Zayyat stresses that he is the lawyer of the Gama´at Al-Islamiya and that he has no organizational relationship with them because he does not want to subject himself to punishment by law. Many of his statements on the activities of the Gama´at Al-Islamiya show that he is not simply their lawyer but one of their members. That was why his book "Al-Zawahri as I knew [him]" was more of an expression of his admiration for Al-Zawahri rather than a response to the criticism that latter leveled against him.
