One of the most important things concerning the ideological reconsiderations of the Gama´a Al-Islamiya is their new attitude towards the Coptic issue. Karam Zuhdi, the leader of the group, criticizes considering the funds of Copts as permissible spoil [for Muslims]. He said that those who did so [referring to the incidents of plundering jewelry stores of Copts in the 1980´s] were wrongly applying the Qur´an.
