The author comments on the attitude of Dr. Samir Sarhan, head of the Book Organization [hay’et el-kitab], towards the crisis around poet Ahmed Al-Shahawi’s book “Commandments Concerning Loving Women.” Sarhan withdrew the book from the market as it is believed to defame religion. He ordered it to be examined by an Azhar committee. After the committee decided that there is nothing wrong about the book and that it is a creative piece of art, he redistributed it. The author criticizes Sarhan for involving the Azhar in the problem. He believes that Sarhan offered the poet as a sacrifice to the Azhar to solve the conflict which the book created between members of parliament who are also members of the Brotherhood and himself.
