The Islamic thinker Dr. Muhammad Seleem Al-Awa, head of the Egyptian Association for Culture and Dialogue, said that Islam is the real loser in the criminal attacks in Madrid. He said that the perpetrators do not differ from the suicidal perpetrators of the September 11 attacks. He said that terrorism in all its forms is unacceptable in Islam. He referred to the terrorist acts attributed to Al-Qa’eda as criminal acts because the perpetrators are placing Islam and Muslims in crisis. He said that it is not allowed for Muslims in Europe to sympathize with the perpetrators of these acts on the pretext that they [European Muslims] are oppressed.
